The Specialist Pakistan's Men Didn't Know They Needed
In Pakistan, a man struggling with erectile dysfunction or infertility rarely finds his way to a qualified doctor. He finds billboards for hakeems. He finds herbal "cures" and dangerous injections. He finds shame — and he stays silent, sometimes for decades, while his marriage and self-worth quietly suffer.
Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Yousafzai chose andro-urology precisely because of this gap. After completing his MBBS and FCPS in Urology, he pursued dedicated training in andrology and male sexual medicine — one of the most underserved specialities in the country — with a focus on penile implant surgery, erectile dysfunction, and male infertility.
Today, he is among the few surgeons in Pakistan performing penile implant surgery as a core practice rather than an occasional procedure, treating patients who travel from across the country — and overseas Pakistanis returning home — for a problem no one else could solve.
But his work goes beyond his own patients. Nearly half of infertility cases involve a male factor, yet semenology — the science of analysing male fertility — remains one of the least-trained skills in Pakistani labs. Dr. Ibrahim leads seminars and hands-on training for doctors and lab technologists nationwide, working to raise the accuracy that IVF outcomes across Pakistan depend on.
